My grandfather was an entrepreneur. He was from Cuba and fought in the Cuban Revolution, but when he realized Castro was no better than Batista he resigned from his military. Castro did not like that and had my grandfather sent to twenty years in prison. When my grandfather was released twenty years later we left to Costa Rica and eventually to Miami, Florida. In Miami he set up a radio station that broadcasted to Cuba and gave the Cuban people a voice that American people and other Cuban Americans can hear. It was risky, but my grandfather believed it had to be done. Every day he and a group of close friends would run the radio station. He spent his entire life dedicated to a free and democratic Cuba. Nothing new was invented, but using technology to satisfy a need of the people of Cuba.
I enrolled in ENT 3003, because I am always thinking of what does society need or wants. I have not thought of an answer, but hopefully this class will give me insight in how to go about doing so. I am hoping for a change in mindset and overall thinking. Entrepreneurs are amazing people and I cannot wait to start reading the books on your reading list. We are not done creating. So much more can be developed and invented to make life better, easier, or safer.

Marcos,
ReplyDeleteI find your post very interesting! I am taking entrepreneurship for the same reasons and am excited for what we are to learn. I come from an immigrant family as well and my father also started his own business so I understand where you're coming from. Our country is made better by men like your grandfather so props to him!

Marcos,
ReplyDeleteSuch a great story, a history you should be very proud of! It appears that you will be following in his footsteps. I'm certain your grandfather is very proud of you. I am also positive that you will be very successful in this class..
Hey Marcos, I truly admire your grandfather. There aren't a lot of people who has the courage he had many years ago. I’m from Nicaragua so I completely understand everything that he went through during the revolution. Just like your grandfather, there are a lot of people who I truly admire for defending his country and not giving up.
